WOW! 2 years sure did go by fast. We had the family over to MiMi and PaPa's to celebrate and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day. We had an animal theme and the cake had a big Lion's head on it and was delicious, you can't go wrong with Edgar's. We had a pinata for the kids to hit and it was funny watching them each try their hardest to bust it. My friend Rachael made John Thomas' "2" shirt and I love it. Scott and I are so lucky to have such a precious little boy in our lives and such great family.

PaPa's 60th Birthday

We went to Montgomery to surprise PaPa on his 60th brithday, we are so lucky to have such a wonderful man in our lives and look forward to celebrating many more birthdays with him. Hadley and Alicia were here from Kentucky and we rode down there together, Alicia and I were laughing listening to the kids in the backseat, Hadley is a trip, John Thomas picked up one of his toys and she said "John Thomas don't break it". We had a good time even though John Thomas pitched a fit at the McDonald' s in Pratville. I think we have hit the terrible 2's and I am open to any suggestions, we seem to throw a tatrum any time we are out in public.

We went to visit PaPa in Montgomery today. We of course had to get John Thomas' picture at the Governor's desk and it looks like he may have been barking out some orders, I know whenever his MiMi is around he makes sure she is at his becking call.

As some of you know Scott and I have pretty big families so we got to see everyone and enjoyed going to everyone's houses. John Thomas and I went to the Galleria (my 2nd home) and saw Santa, he wasn't too sure about what was going on but he didn't tear up or cling to me at all. He is talking A LOT now and would tell everyone at the mall "hi"and he also would yell "Boots" and point if someone was wearing boots. I can't wait until Christmas morning.

John Thomas has become very attached to his stuffed monkey who he calls "Eh Ah" . I taught him that monkeys say "eh eh ah ah" and I guess he decided to shorten it and name his monkey that. When we are at home Eh Ah is everywhere John Thomas is and he loves to ride him around on his dump truck. Eh Ah is not allowed to leave the house and he tells him "bye bye, Eh Ah" everytime we walk out the door. When he goes night he has to tell several things "night night" as well. Last night he told his Train "night Night" and then gave it a kiss. I really like this age and love seeing him learn something new each day.

My Christmas Craft

All of my friends are so crafty and it has inspired me to do some crafts and to also find myself a hobby (as if dancing 3 days a week isn't enough). I would like to find some adult dance classes to take but they are all on nights that I teach dance so I can't go. I have started frequenting JoAnn's and Michael's to try to find my inspiration. I learned how to make tutu's and it is fun but very time consuming, I know now why they are expensive. I saw a wreath in the Pottery Barn catalog and thought I coudl make it myself and it turned out pretty good. Scott, John Thomas, and I get TONS of Christmas photo cards from everyone each year and I never know what to do with them, until now. I got a foam wreath covered it in sheet moss and have gold thumb tacks to attach the cards. This way they will be on daisplay and we can enjoy them. The bow is crooked in this picture and has since been fixed but I thought you would get the idea.

Around the House

We have spent the last week pretty much doing nothing. John Thomas wasn't feeling his best, so on Saturday off to the after hours clinic we went, we got a diagnosis if Herpangina and we were sent on our way. John Thomas has had fever, stomach issues, vomiting, and ulcers on the roof of his mouth and down his throat. He has gotten a lot of extra kisses and yummy foods to eat, today he has acted like he is feeling better and even ate a decent breakfast. I am hoping we have been through the worst part of the illness and will be back to 100% soon. We are getting ready to have the week off next week and spend some time with family.

Yep, John Thomas was a puppy for Halloween and a mighty cute one at that. He had a PDO party on Thursday and we got to see all the kids dressed up and hang out with our buddy Brooks. Friday night we went to Boo at the Zoo and on Saturday we had a Harvest Festival and went Trick or Treating in MiMi and PaPa's neighborhood. It was a great Halloween and all of us can't wait until next year.

Trip to Kentucky

John Thomas and I decided to go on a little trip last weekend. We packed our bags and off to Kentucky to see Alicia and Hadley we went. I was a little nervous about going on a 4 hour road trip with a 1 1/2 year old alone but we managed fine, we even stopped at Cracker Barrel right outside of Nashville and enjoyed lunch. I love visting with Alicia and watching the kids play together. We went to Chucky Cheese Saturday morning, Hadley and John Thomas road a few rides together and I like to think they enjoyed each other's company.

Susan G. Komen 5K

Heather and I walked in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation 5K on Saturday with a group from her work, we had lots of fun supporting a great cause. My Grandmother had breast cancer and had a double mastectomy back in 1997 and it metastasized last year before she passed away so I walked in honor of my Granny whom I love and miss dearly. Although the weather did not cooperate there were thousands of people that showed up to run/walk, my sister-in-law ran in the race as well and finished in 25 minutes (WOW). We will be walking again next year and plan on having a big team of supporters. I thought it was neat that even dyed the fountain in Linn Park pink.

Apparently these days we are into pouring our food on the ground and playing with it. He had his cookies in his choo choo and pushed it around for a long time, of course I have to be careful since I do not let him eat food of the floor. I would also like to add that earlier in the day he had a dead frog in the choo choo. EEEWWW! Boys will be boys.

I turned my head for one minute and then this is what I found. John Thomas poured out all of his goldfish and the cat food as well. I let him play in it all since it was already all over my kitchen. He thought it was so fun to collect all the goldfish in the bowl and then pour them out. I may be creating a monster.

I can't believe I haven't posted this blog before now. Scott and I kept wanting to get John Thomas a kitten after we saw reaction with one of our friends Kittens. We kept trying to get one and thigns kept coming up . I have always wanted a seal point kitten but couldn't ever bring myself to buy one and then I found one for FREE. This is Hazel she was 6 weeks old when got her and not much bigger than pair of scissors (as you can see in the pic). These pictures make her look little to me considering how much she has grown. So far she has done great and we hope she can start capturing all the critters in the backyard..

I am taking part in my friends Kim's blog idea in listing a few of my favortie things at the moment (things can change with me at any given time).

1. I LOVE MY FAMILY
I really don't even know what to put here without sounding cliche' or cheesy. I have so many GREAT family members. Not only was I born into an awesome family I married into one and feel like some of Scott's Cousin's, Aunt's and Uncle's have been with me my whole life.
2. Taziki's Friday Special
The only thing better than enjoying this meal is sharing it with a friend, which I have made many of friends go to, willing or not.
3. Spending ALL day with my Son
My relationship with my Mother is incredible and I can't even put into words how I feel about her. It makes me SO happy and nervous at the same time that I have someone that looks up to me and loves me like I do my own mother. John Thomas makes me proud EVERYDAY and I don't think that will ever stop. I am so lucky to spend the entire summer with my baby, watching him grow and learn is incredible. Being John Thomas' mother is a blessing.
4. Project Runway
I am so addicted. I love Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, the entire cast and concept. This may be my favorite Reality Show with the exception of SYTYCD. By the Way I also Love the T.O. Show.......I know, I know
5. My Best Friend Heather
I have had one of the same best friends since I was 2 1/2, who can say that and mean it. Feather (that isn't a typo) has been with me through so many things as well as I have with her. I hope John Thomas has that connection with someone because there is nothing like it. We grew up about a 1/ 2 mile from each other and still see each other weekly as well as vacation together. I have been blessed in the friend department..........WOW the more I type the luckier I feel. I have a lot great friends!
6. Purses / Shoes
I know, right. What girl doesn't love a good purse and good pair of shoes? They don't have to be name brand or expensive, I just love purses and shoes. Isn't it a shame that I work in a field that shoes or purses aren't a big deal AT ALL.
7. My Job
OK this is such a great thing I think I will end my list here. Dance is my passion and unless you are a dancer you will never relate. The fact that I get to share my passion with children is unexplainable. My students are like my babies and seeing them grow and use ther OWN talent is priceless. I recently had a student do a project in school and part of that project was to name their "hero" and she chose me. What else could I ask for, it made me speechless (which those of you who know me know is hard to do).

Who Knew

Who knew a laundry hamper could be so much fun? John Thomas carried this hamper around the house forever and then finally decided to crawl in it, Scott and I were laughing because once he would get in it and walk around it would take him a little while before he could figure out how to get out. He is a mess!

Bowling Green, Kentucky

John Thomas, MiMi, and I went on a quick vacation to Bowling Green, KY to see Hadley and Alicia. Mom kept the kids one day and Alicia and I went to Beach Bend Amusement Park, it was so fun to ride all of the adult rides and just hang out, although we did feel wierd being their without our children. At Beach Bend there is ride called the Sea Dragon and it is from Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch, the park bought it last year. If you know me you know I LOVED Michael and this was one of my favorite parts about the trip. We went to a concert in the park on Friday night and it was fun as well, Aunt Becky was in town by then and we all enjoyed eating fried chicken in the park and listening to music. John Thomas danced and danced until he finally fell down and scraped his forehead up. We can't wait to go back to Kentucky.

I just thought these pictures were cute so I thought I would share them. Whenever I tell John Thomas to say "Cheese" he puts his hand over his face. He also puts his hand in front of his eyes when he gets embarassed, it is too funny. The 2nd picture was one night when we went out to eat and I kept trying to get him to look at me and he finally did and this is the face I got. I think it looks like "Here's a smile lady, now leave me ALONE".

Goodbye City Stages

On the last day of City Stages there is or should I say was always a lot of kid friendly booths set up. Sundays used to be my favorite day just to go sit in the park, listen to music, eat over priced food, and watch all of the children play. Scott and I always said that whenever we had a child we would share that special day with them at Linn Park. Well, we went, had fun and were looking forward to doing it again for many years to come. Since they have now cancelled Ciy Stages FOREVER it looks like we will have to find some other way to spend Father's Day sunday.

RIVER RAT

Last Saturday John Thomas went on his first boat ride. We were gone for a while and he seemed to like it. This boy loves water but wasn't too sure once he got put into the river water (I'm not quite sure any of us are OK with river water). Scott and I hope to one day have a boat of our own to take him on. Thanks Henry!!!

Beach Trip

This was actually John Thomas' 2nd trip to the beach but he was only 2 1/2 months old the first time. We went with MiMi, Aunt Becky, Alicia, and Hadley and we had a ball. The kids were great and John Thomas really liked being out on the beach, for those of you who know me know I love the beach but I am not a big fan of the sand, John Thomas however enjoyed being covered in it. He raked sand into his swimsuit, had it in his hair, on his face, and managed to even eat a little. I have more pictures buit I have to wait for Alicia to email them to me. We can't wait until we get to go again!!!

3rd Haircut

So, I thought I would use these pictures as an example of everyone thinking my child is older than he is. This is his 3rd haircut but he was only 13 months old. We walked in and the lady suggested he sit by HIMSELF (gasp), but he did and he did just fine. Wherever we go people think he is at least 2. I hated it when he was infant and we would go somewhere and I would get mistaken for being way postpardem and people expect him to do things he couldn't b/c he looked so much bigger than he should. Needless to say, I couldn't be happier to have a healthy and growing boy. I am sad to say his hair grows way too fast though and he is already due another cut.

Easter

Well, this Easter was certainly eventful. We went to church and out to my Aunt Janice's in PG. John Thomas had no interest in hunting eggs although he ended up with 8 in his basket so he became $8 richer. A little after 2:00 Scott started not feeling well and then the madness started. Scott and John Thomas both had the stomach virus, John Thomas' temp got to 103 and just as I got everyone settled into bed and myself on the couch the power went out and was not restored until Monday evening. Mimi was a big help by bringing over some pedialite, 7up, and meds for Scott. John Thomas is some better and Scott is back to 100% finally.

Aunt Head

Heather (Head) and I went and got pedicures on Sat. and then she came over to hang out with Big'n. Aunt Head isn't used to having a little one at her house and she left the bathroom door open when she left. John Thomas managed to find the open door quickly and roll our house. Scott and I laughed and laughed at our little man. At least it was just 1 strand of toilet paper.

Dying Eggs

We decided to dye eggs on Sat. and I quickly figured out that John Thomas needed his own cup with water in it instead of dye. He broke 2 eggs by throwing them and cried when we started to clean everything up.

Soccer Game

We went to watch Ward play soccer last Saturday morning and it was cold. Ward scored the 1st goal of the game and then decided the game was "too wild" for him. That morning he told Krista (his Mother) that he didn't remember telling her that he wanted to play soccer. Maybe after a few games he will get the hang of things, he sure did look cute in his uniform.

A Visit From Hadley

Hadley and Alicia came and saw us last Wednesday, the weather was pretty so we played out on the back porch. At the end of the evening they took their bath together and they were both SO tired.

The Zoo

Rachael and I took the kids to the Zoo last friday. We thought is was going to be a pretty day but it ended up o the chilly side, the children did not seem to mind. We hope to go again soon and maybe even catch the Sea Lion Show. John Thomas seemed much more interested with playing with the strollers than looking at the animals.

Brooks and Angel came over a few weeks ago and the boys played out on teh back porch. I am afraid that John Thomas might be a bully. He got in trouble for pouring water on brooks and for not listening to his mommy. I am going to see about getting him a Mother's Day Out program and see if that helps his attitude some.

Mr. Black

John Thomas has learned how to bribe Mr. Black with Kitty treats. They have both adapted pretty well to each other, and I was pretty worried about how Mr. Black would treat a little one. If you look at the 2nd picture you can see that BeBe's (Mr. Black's nickname, Scott also just calls him Black) picks out his own treats from the bottle.

My friend Kim came out to the house to take a few pictures of John Thomas. I can't get them all on here but I love them!!! A few may even end up as presents so I didn't want to post them and spoil the suprise. I am picking up his 1 Year portraits from Rachael on Tuesday and will post those as well. Aren't I the lucky to have such talented friends! Scott and I were joking about how he looks like a fat kid in the 3rd picture. We were in Macy's on Saturday and someone on the elevator gasped when I told her he had just turned a year old. We are beginning to think that John Thomas has my height and Scott's build.........that's what it takes to make a Big'n.

On Thursday John Thomas will turn 1. He has been walking for about a month, wears 18 - 24 month clothing, and a size 6.5 WIDE in shoes, he is truly a Big'n. We have his 1 Year Check up tomorrow and I am anxious to see how much he weighs. If the weather is pretty outside on Thursday we are going to go to the Zoo. Sunday is his Birthday Party and I can't wait to see him dig into the cake.

Bed Head

Big'n got this dump truck for Christmas and he just loves it. He will ride it or fill it up the back and push it ALL around the house. Thanks Uncle Lee, Aunt Krista, Ward, and Kate. I can't believe he will be turning one in a month, and getting more toys. We already cleaned out the toy bucket once and it looks like it is about time to do it again.

Too Funny

One of the disadvantages of having a tall kid (he has been off the charts since his 2 week visit) is
he can reach pretty much anything. Today I set my water on our dining room table and the
next thing I know he had it poured all over the rug (thank goodness it was just water) and then preceeded to suck it off of the rug.
I couldn't help but laugh. His sippy cup was sitting right beside me but I guess it just wasn't good enough.

I totally forgot about getting John Thomas' 9 months portraits so I had to make a quick appointment at Portrait Innovations. I thought they turned out OK and I can't wait to do his 1 year. He has grown so much and at his last Dr.'s appt. he was in the 95th percentile in weight and still off the charts in height (he is SO tall). He says "mama, dada, and every once in a while we will get a baba when he is waving bye, he has 7 teeth and is currently cutting the 8th. I have really enjoyed being home with him the past 2 weeks and it is going to be hard to return to work tomorrow.

I thought with having 2 weeks off that I would keep up with the blog better but I didn't. We had a busy and blessed Christmas. My "new" camera is broken so I can't upload any of my photos at the moment, I am taking it back tomorrow and will try to get some pictures on here ASAP. These are pictures of John Thomas sitting in a chair that he got for Christmas. This chair was in the children's dept. of my childhood church. My Dad sat in one of these chairs every sunday of his childhood as well as my brother and me. It is special to me and I hope it will mean something to John Thomas one day, Scott and I can't decide if we want to sand it and stain it or just leave it alone.

John Thomas wrote his note to Santa for his Magical Elf, he left out crackers and water like you are suppose to and the next morning Emerson the Elf was on our kitchen counter. Emerson hasn't caused much trouble around our house so far but I think it is just because he planning something big. Our Visit With Santa

We decided to go to the Galleria tonight to see Santa. We were only in line for about 15 minutes and we were the last people to see him before he went on a break. John Thomas has found a few Christmas gifts I have had hidden around the house and seems to really want them, I can't wait to see him on Christmas. I have some more pictures to upload but Heather has my camera and I will be getting it tomorrow ( I can't keep up with anything).

This boy loves bath time and I couldn't resist posting these pictures. Look at those chunky legs....we know he didnt' get those from me. I'm not sure if you can tell but in the 3rd picture you can see how he is double crowned, I'm not sure how common that is but his Uncle Lee is double crowned as well. We are going to go get our picture made with Santa sometime this upcoming week and are going to be in the PG Christmas Parade tomorrow. Scott's B-Day is coming up as well and John Thomas has been busy trying to think of something special to get him.

Aunt Robin bought John Thomas his own little Christmas to go in his room. We found the perfect place for it on his chifferobe and each morning when we wake up we look at all the ornaments while we feed Jack Sparrow (the fish).

1st Thanksgiving

OK, so these are the only pictures I have from my baby's first Thanksgiving. I have got to get better with taking pictures. You may notice the small red dots John Thomas has around his nose (there are 3), Libby bit him. I set a small bowl of left over Mac n Cheese in the floor for Libby to eat and John Thomas apparently got in her way and she proceeded to bite him. Libby has since become an outside dog and is allowed nowhere near John Thomas. I would give her away but he loves her so much and just sits at the glass door and watches her. I'm glad it wasn't worse and I promise Libby will never be close enough to bite him again.

MMMMM............Cupcakes

They day before Thanksgiving I was craving something sweet. I went to the kitchen and actually discovered that we had everything needed to make cupcakes. I made one batch and let John Thomas taste one, with no icing, of course.
Little did I know I was creating a monster. He knew they came from teh oven so he watched it as the other batched cooked.
I couldn't eat a cupcake for the next 2 days without having a small audience of 1.

John Thomas has yet to realize what the word "no" means. I can scream it as loud as I want and he will stop long enough to smile at me but never stops what he is getting into completely. I ran to grab the phone the other day and came back into his room and found him on the bottom shelf of the changing table. Once he got up there he got a little scared at getting down and started to whimper. Excuse Libby in the picture, she seems to always make into the shot.

New Shoes

We had to go to Stride Rite to get John Thomas some shoes. His feet are SO wide that no cheap shoes would fit him. Leave it up to my child to need expensive things. He was extremely good while the lady measured his foot and then tried his shoes on him. The only problem we had was when I set him down to try crawling in them he fell over and bumped his head. I am suprised you can't see the red bump that came up on his forehead. After getting to play for a while and be carried around the galleria (I'm sure we looked like idiots with an empty stroller) all was well. He is such a happy little fella and we feel really lucky to have such a good baby. I thought it was sweet that they take their picture with their first pair of shoes.

Playing on Mommy and Daddy's bed

John Thomas came into our room and played on the bed with his Daddy while I was folding some clothes. In the 2nd picture you can see that we now have our "2 Front Teeth" in time for Christmas. The 2 teeth on the sides of his top teeth have actually already cut through and you can even see them now. We hae a busy week and weekend ahead of us. Saturday we get to go to Hadley's (Alicia's little girl) 1st Birthday party and we can't wait.

The excersaucer is still one of John Thomas' favorite toys, but instead of sitting in it he enjoys crawling in and out of the bottom. Everytime I think I am going to put a toy away and get it off of my floor he finds a new way to enjoy it.

Big'n sure did enjoy Halloween. The costume didn't seem to bother him too badly, he had a few visitors, and even went Trick or Treating. We are ready for the holiday season and can't wait for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

1st Haircut

Yes, I know he is a little young to have already had a haircut but his hair was constantly in his eyes and his sides were grown out longer than the rest. I just wanted it cleaned up on the sides but the hairdresser got a little excited and cut more than I wanted, but it will grow back. He was SO good and would only turn his head if I snapped a picture.

John Thomas is crawling everywhere and getting into everything around the house. He has not learned the meaning of the word "no" yet so I can say it as loud as I want to and it doesn't phase him a bit. He is still sleeping around 10 - 12 hours at night and takes 1 nap during the day. The top 2 teeth have cut through the gums and we are just waiting for them to come all the way through.

Homestead Hollow

We went to Homestead Hollow this past weekend with YaYa. John Thomas was good for the most part and even managed to squeeze in a cat nap. We waited in line for 2 hours just to get in. It was a really pretty day and we enjoyed getting out of the house (like we ever stay home).

Mr. Black has really been much better than I thought he would be around John Thomas. Johnny T is amazed by his tail and I predict he will be grabbing it in the near future. Mr. Black's days of running away are numbered because we now have a crawler in the house. Everytime I get the video camera out to make a movie of him crawling he stops and stares in amazemnt at the camera. Maybe, I can post a video of him crawling soon.

An Afternoon of Fun

Sunday afternoon was such a pretty day that we decided to take advantage of it. We went up to Vulcan to enjoy "Vulcan Aftertunes". There were bands, drinks, snacks and beautiful weather. After visting Vulcan we decided to go eat at Mellow Mushroom. John Thomas sat in a highchair and could not stand the strap that was in it, he managed to wiggle his foot out of the straps in no time. He also entertained the ladies sitting beside us and greeted everyone as they left (we were sitting right by the door).

As I am sure you can tell, my little man has ALWAYS been a fan of eating. John Thomas is eating a lot of different baby foods as well as some table food. We are working on trying to feed ourself. He also holds and drinks out of a sippy cup (we of course still use bottles). We wanted to just try it out one day and he ended up liking it.

John Thomas is now sitting on his own and I expect him to be crawling anyday now. HE is pretty steady sitting and once he learns how to move his arms he will be getting around on his own. I am so happy he is sitting and am NOT ready for him to be mobile. Maybe it will acutally take him awhile to get the hang of crawling. When did he get so grown?

I was washing dishes yesterday and all of a sudden I noticed it got quiet. I peeked in on John Thomas and he had passed out in his exersaucer. I was going to let him stay there but he looked so uncomfortable, I got him out and of course it was 2 more hours before he went back to sleep. Little stinker!

John Thomas went to visit Katelyn. I can't wait until they can really play and interact with each other. As of now they just look at each other and play with each other's toys. We sure are glad that Katelyn is such a good sport and doesn't mind John Thomas playing with her things.
